6'

Some info about the project

6' or (6 Feet) is a nearly black and white animation. It was loosely based on the 1989 film "Balance" by Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein. It captures a similar bleak and otherworldly environment. The main character realizes the inevitability of his efforts to dig sideways when he runs into another character digging in the opposite direction. Both had previously thought they were headed towards something. Knowing that there is nothing back the way he came, and there is likely a similar nothingness in the direction the other character had been traveling from, he tries something new. This need for a change in perspective to escape an endless environment was inspired by concepts of purgatory.

  • Role: Sole Creator
  • Period: 6 weeks
  • Genre: B&W Animation
  • Concept: A confrontation with fate and a shift in perspective.
  • Post Mortem:
    • What went right
      • - The idea really captivated me
      • - It drew from one of my favorite animations: "Balance"
      • - The Character was simple and had a unique formm of motion
    • What went wrong
      • - The palette should've been more diversified (it was too dark overall)
      • - Some moments of animation are unpolished and inconsistent
      • - The unspoken narrative is hard to follow
